The Bodega is Felipe's Favorites, the good stuff, stuff I like, etc. If it's listed it's worth loading into your mental inventory.

Hog Pilots, Blue Water Grunts: The American Military in the Air, at Sea, and on the Ground (Vintage Departures)
By Robert Kaplan
The second book of Kaplan's time embedded in the US military. A great story about the character of people in uniform and the diversity of jobs they do across the globe.
Imperial Grunts: On the Ground with the American Military, from Mongolia to the Philippines to Iraq and Beyond
By Robert Kaplan
The future of US involvement in the world is going to happen on the "fringes" of developing civilizations. Kaplan goes out to the far flung US outposts in places like Columbia and Mongolia to meet the men and women manning them. Kaplan lays out a new way of looking at US engagement with the world that has largely come to pass.
Lions of Kandahar: The Story of a Fight Against All Odds

Lions of Kandahar: The Story of a Fight Against All Odds
By Major Rusty Brady
A well written account of a relatively unknown battle in southern Afghanistan.
The Mission, The Men, and Me: Lessons from a Former Delta Force Commander
By Pete Blaber
Good book all around. I thought his perspective on Operation Anaconda was valuable.
Monsoon: The Indian Ocean and the Future of American Power
By Robert Kaplan
Recently the DoD began to realign its focus from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean. If you want to understand why this is the place to start.

No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden
By Mark Owen
On Combat, The Psychology and Physiology of Deadly Conflict in War and in Peace
By Lt Col Dave Grossman
A must read for anyone in uniform. I have given many copies of this book to people in my unit struggling with PTSD. A must read.
Outlaw Platoon: Heroes, Renegades, Infidels, and the Brotherhood of War in Afghanistan
By Sean Parnell
It can be rough out there...
Scipio Africanus: Greater Than Napoleon
By B. H. Liddell Hart
Scipio built an army from nothing and defeated Carthage on their home turf without ever laying siege to the city. Story of master strategist that is almost unknown to history. Agree, better than Napoleon.
Sherman: Soldier, Realist, American
By B. H. Liddell Hart
When we moved to Virginia I decided I'd read a Civil War book and choose this one. Sherman invented total war and has a conroversial reputation for his use of it. His "march to the sea," while controversial, hastened the end of the war and may well have saved Lincoln's Presidency. Hart, writing this about 80 years ago, tells the story well.
Strategy: Second Revised Edition (Meridian)
By B. H. Liddell Hart
His "masterwork" on the use of the "indirect approach." Good read for the military history buff.
